Lebanon has been struck by a series of devastating events in recent days, resulting in a significant loss of life and widespread injuries. According to Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad, at least 82 people have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks and the detonation of communication devices.
Among the casualties, 38 individuals were killed in a strike on southern Beirut that specifically targeted several Hezbollah commanders. Tragically, this included three children and seven women. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway to address the aftermath of these attacks.
The impact of the pager detonations has been severe, with approximately 2,950 people sustaining injuries. Of those injured, 777 individuals remain hospitalized, with 152 in critical condition. Many of the victims have experienced partial or complete loss of vision, leading to a total of 2,087 surgeries being performed to address these injuries.
Health Minister Abiad highlighted that the majority of those injured were civilians who were present in stores and supermarkets during the attacks. He condemned Israel's actions as a 'war crime,' emphasizing the devastating consequences on innocent lives.
