What is a Water Butt?
A water butt is usually a container of any size or shape that is used to store rainwater.
When it rains, the water is caught in a drainpipe and flows down into the water butt, it can also be collected by simply removing the lid. The collected water can then be used for various tasks including gardening, washing cars etc.
They are used ultimately to save money and as a cost effective way of conserving and using that water.
How much should I spend on a Water Butt?
As they come in different shapes and sizes, prices for a rainwater tank can often vary.
They will usually cost anywhere from £20 to £100 but in some cases (usually decorative, large models) can cost anywhere up to £3000+.
What size Water Butt will I need?
Again, they are available in a plethora of sizes to suit all needs. The likelihood of the average household needing above 200L isn't likely, however, most people start small between 50L and 150L should suffice at first.
You can always start small and determine how many more litres you'll need afterwards.
