
A landslide in Indonesia's West Java Province claimed 17 lives, while 82 remain missing, said BNPB, Indonesia's disaster agency. The landslide triggered by heavy rain hit West Bandung Regency at 2am local time on Saturday, local media reported. The rescue and search operation for the affected is underway.
"A landslide occurred in West Bandung Regency, West Java Province, in the early hours of Saturday, killing seven people," AFP quoted Abdul Muhari, a spokesman for the national disaster agency or BNPB. He further added, "The number of missing persons is high, we will try to optimise our search and rescue efforts today," reported Reuters.
