660 MW unit of Lalitpur thermal power plant reinstates service: UP power ministry

LUCKNOW: Bringing a minor relief in current power crises, 660 MW unit of private run Lalitpur thermal power plant has resumed its service after receiving consignment of coal, according to state power ministry.

Bajaj Hindustan Limited owns 1,980 MW of Lalitpur thermal power plant (TPP). “The power generation at Lalitpur TPP has started from Wednesday. Efforts are being made to reinstate the units of other TPPs which are closed due to technical or any other reasons,” said principal secretary energy and chairperson M Devraj.

Speaking to TOI, Shivam Sharma, the CPRO north central railway said, “Till Wednesday late night, seven rakes of coal were delivered to thermal power plant at Udaipura, in Lalitpur. On Tuesday, we delivered five rakes.”

He said, "In NCR zone, extensive monitoring of coal rakes is being done from control rooms to ensure no detention of rakes enroute. Further, we have also emphasized to empty the rakes as quickly as possible at plants, so that rakes can be pressed in for another delivery."

In a review meeting with senior officials of UPPCL and representatives of independent power producer (IPP) from TPPs such as Lanco Group, Renascent Power, Bajaj Hindustan Limited, Reliance Power Limited and others, it was informed that coal supply has improved.

Devraj told all TPPs operators, that due to sweltering heat power demand has reached to 23,538 MW, therefore all TPPs are required to run their plants at maximum possible capacity.”

Chairman UPPCL added to keep an eye on local level power disruptions caused by technical faults and ensure minimum time to restore the power supply.

From April 1 to May 4, 20,211 complaints regarding transformers were received from all over the state on 1912 toll free number.

Similarly, 2,11,472 complaints were received regarding the electricity supply, out of which 2,10,148 complaints were resolved in the shortest possible time.
