An investigation has been launched after a 62-year-old man has died after being hit by a police vehicle in Livingston on Boxing Day.
Emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a marked police car and male on Almond Link Road at around 10.15pm.
The 62-year-old man was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance but was pronounced dead a short time later.
He has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed.
It is understood that the male driver, who was in the police car by themselves at the time of the incident, was not treated for any injuries.
The road was reopened at around 4.30am on Tuesday following enquiries.
Senior investigator Steven Carr from the Police investigation and review commissioner (PIRC) said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Our investigation into the circumstances of this incident is continuing, and I would urge any drivers with dash cam footage, or anyone who witnessed the collision, to please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3422 of December 26, or alternatively the PIRC during office hours on 01698 542900.”
