It's for night like Tuesday at Anfield that Rangers desperately wanted back in the Champions League group stage - and they're in the final moments of preparation for the first of two major clashes.
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have started the Premier League season in stuttering fashion but Light Blues boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will know better than to doubt the 'mentality monsters' when his Rangers team line up at Anfield. It's a huge ask for the Ibrox side to take anything from this battle of Britain clash but they have been boosted by a long-term absentee's apparent return to full training ahead of this one, albeit he won't be involved.
Ajax and Napoli have already put them to the sword in Group A and it means positives results are needed sooner rather than later, with two games in this section to come against the Reds before meeting Dutch and Italian foes again. Here's six things we spotted from their pre-game training session ahead of their latest Champions League challenge.
Return of the Roofe...kind of
Jamaican international Kemar Roofe hasn't played a single minute of football this season amid his ongoing injury problems but could be set for a big return to the squad in the near future. It won't be in this one though as he has not been included in van Bronckhorst's Champions League squad for the group stage.
All smiles
The Light Blues boss appeared in a pleasant mood as he put his team through their paces ahead of a major match at Anfield. There's no doubt pressure has eased slightly after a tough September brought three heavy defeats, returning to form a with a 4-0 win over Hearts on Saturday.
Together at last
When will see all three on the pitch together? That question is left unanswered but it's a great boost for Rangers fans to see their three main strikers - Antonio Colak, Alfredo Morelos and Roofe - all training together at Auchenhowie. It shows the finishing capability their boss has at his disposal.
Battling the boss
Whether it's in front of 50,000 at Ibrox or challenging his boss in training, Tavernier is set on being the best he can be. His manager was a top midfielder in his playing days and posed the latest test for his captain by joining in on the final session ahead of travelling to Merseyside.
Old stomping ground
It was a big boost for central defender Ben Davies to play 45 minutes against Hearts on Saturday and it could set him up for a big introduction to the European stage. He joined Rangers from Liverpool in the summer so Jurgen Klopp will know all about the man potentially tasked with helping stop his forward line.
Time to shine
There's yet to be a sighting of Morelos at his best this season but if you backed him to prove his credentials anywhere, it would be on the European stage. Colak is Rangers' Mr Reliable at the moment but don't rule the club's record goalscorer in Europe out of making an Anfield impact.
