Statins lower LDL cholesterol reliably, and for people with established heart disease or high cardiovascular risk, the benefit is not seriously contested. What is less settled is how the side-effect picture looks in Indian patients, who carry different genetic profiles, eat differently, and often take statins alongside other drugs that interact in ways large Western trials did not capture.
