Honestly, I don’t know many women who don’t have a screenshot or two of an engagement ring somewhere in their camera roll. It’s not something we think about often, but when you see a style of engagement ring that captures exactly what you never knew you wanted, you screenshot that shit so you can send it to your future fiancé.
If you haven’t hoarded screenshots, choosing an engagement ring can feel super daunting. There are so many things that factor into your choice — budget, cut, colour, clarity, setting, style, metal, and practicality. So, when you set out on your journey, we recommend doing a little research first — that’s where we come in.
We’ve caught up with some of our favourite local jewellers to discover the key engagement ring trends for 2025 and where to shop them, in case you need to send someone special a few inspo links.
You’re welcome!
The biggest engagement ring trends in 2025
From chunky band solitaires to toi et moi and east-to-west-set stones, these are the engagement ring styles worth bookmarking.
Marquise Solitaires

According to Toya Worsley, founder of LINDELLI Jewellery, Marquise solitaires are experiencing a resurgence, especially after Selena Gomez’s engagement announcement at the tail end of last year. As you can see above, Benny Blanco proposed to Gomez with a stunning marquise diamond, prompting people to start adding Marquise solitaires to their Pinterest boards again.
“Celebrated for its elongated and elegant silhouette, this timeless shape creates the illusion of a larger diamond, maximizing visual impact while delivering excellent value,” explains Toya. “Its flattering design lengthens the look of fingers, adding a touch of sophistication to every hand it graces.”
The style is a mix of modern glamour and vintage, so it’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for a unique yet classic design.
When it comes to pairing it with a wedding band, Toya recommends a minimalist approach.
“While Selena paired hers with a diamond band, a simple and sleek band with subtle detailing allows the marquise cut to take centre stage while offering versatility in stacking combinations.”

East-to-west-set stones

Now, we know many of you probably have this style of engagement ring on your Pinterest board after rumours swirled that Tom Holland proposed to Zendaya with an east-to-west-set stone.
“This is when a stone is set with the peaks/points east-to-west orientated (horizontal across the finger) rather than the traditional north-to-south, as seen on our Mira ring,” explains founder of Sydney-based Alana Maria Jewellery, Alana Ellis.
East-west settings offer a modern and unique approach that can also showcase larger carat stones without feeling overly formal or excessive, says Alana. “They can also be a unique customisation of the traditional solitaire. We commonly see customers get creative with trilogies and having the side stones east-west.”
Zendaya‘s new sparkler is a perfect example of an east-west setting.
So, how would your wedding band complement the horizontal diamond? As the stone will be taking up more space horizontally on your finger, you may not see as much of the band (depending on the stone’s carat), explains Alana. So, “you may wish to get a band to match the curve of the stone, such as our Cigar band or Otta band.”

Chunky Band Solitaires

Chunky band solitaires are having a moment, redefining tradition with bold, flat bands that spotlight larger diamonds, according to Toya.
“The substantial band adds a modern edge, balancing femininity with a hint of masculinity. These rings are designed for practicality and everyday wear, often featuring low-set baskets for added comfort.”
We’ve seen celebrities like Dua Lipa and Emma Roberts embracing the trend with eye-catching chunky band solitaires, setting the tone for modern minimalism.
The resurgence of this style reflects the increasing popularity of larger diamonds, made more attainable by lab-grown options, explains Toya. “The contrast of bold metal with a brilliant diamond exudes confidence and makes a contemporary statement.”
Givne that this style of engagement ring takes up a lot of prime real estate on your finger, it’s best to opt for a finer, more delicate wedding band, says Toya.
“A chunky band solitaire pairs beautifully with a delicate shared-prong wedding band. This balance keeps the focus on the bold engagement ring while adding a subtle touch of sparkle.”

Toi Et Moi

Now, if you’re a girlie who saves engagement rings every time they pop up on your FYP, you’ve more than likely got the next trend saved in your folder. Toi et Moi rings have been on the upward trend for a little while now, with celebrities like Em Rata, Ariana Grande and Megan Fox all favouring the style.
Alana explains that Toi et Moi means ‘you and me’ in French and is a beautiful play on the partnership and love that a pair shares.
“One of the stones is typically leaning or ‘kissing’ the other. It is a two-stone ring and can be customised to have an array of stones. We most commonly design pear and oval or marquise and pear, as seen on our Lola ring.”
Talk about symbolism?!
Alana has a few recommendations when choosing a wedding band to pair with such a distinct style.
“If you have a low-set engagement ring, any straight bands won’t sit flush with the ring. We suggest pairing it with a band like our Otta Curve Band, or you can customise our Cigar band to have a cutout specifically for your ring.”
It’s worth noting that a ring like this can be timeless, even if you get divorced. Em Rata turned her Toi et Moi engagement ring into a ‘divorce ring’ by separating the diamonds into two rings so she could keep wearing them. ICONIC!

Old World Cuts

While Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum‘s engagement may have ended, her antique-style engagement ring is still in every bride-to-be’s saved folder on Instagram. “These cuts exude a sense of heritage and sophistication, with their broad facets and soft, romantic glow offering a distinctive and timeless appeal”, says Toya.
Toya explains that the rise of the “old money” aesthetic and the desire for one-of-a-kind designs is likely the reason we’re seeing more of these treasures pop up.
“With natural antique diamonds being rare and costly, the growing popularity of lab-grown diamonds has made these styles more accessible, particularly in elongated proportions that seamlessly blend vintage charm with a modern twist.”
Celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Mary-Kate Olsen both serve as inspiration when it comes to the ‘old mine cuts’.
When it comes to choosing a wedding band to pair with these statement engagement rings, Toya recommends an understated wedding band.
“A wide gold cigar band complements the vintage vibe, while a diamond-studded hammer-set band adds a touch of sparkle without overshadowing the unique facets of the centre stone.”

Bezel Settings

A bezel setting is a continuous band of metal surrounding the gemstone(s), explains Alana. “It replaces traditional claws and can add durability to the setting. Bezel settings were popular in Art Deco trends, but they are becoming more popular now due to their increased durability and unique style.”
It’s the perfect style if you’re someone who prefers a more traditional style diamond ring but leads a more active lifestyle (or is a little on the clumsy side — LOL us).
“Traditional styles and people with active lifestyles want something that feels and is more secure,” says Alana. “Chunky rings are a rising trend, and a bezel can achieve both the chunky and fine look!”
Take Lily Collins‘ gorgeous engagement ring, for example. It’s got that antique look and feel but less dainty, less fragile.
Alana says the bezel set is a solid choice for your wedding ring, and after seeing the style (pictured below), we can’t help but agree. “Our June wedding band is a half-eternity, half-bezel ring and is a beautiful contrast and compliment to a bezel set engagement ring.”
Given chunky jewellery is starting to trend again, we have a feeling we’re going to be seeing plenty of bezel rings.
