Arsenal's squad is looking pretty good ahead of their first Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on August 5.
Mikel Arteta has added Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira to his ranks, while William Saliba will feel like a new signing after his loan spell at Marseille came to an end. Yet Arsenal aren't ready for competitive action just yet.
Arteta could still do with another couple of players before September. More importantly, though, the Spaniard needs to get rid of some dead wood. Yet that's easier said than done. "It's not easy," recently admitted technical director Edu. "But it's part of our job.
"We try to create an opportunity for the player. For me, the most important thing is to make the player understand why he is here or why he needs to go. And then we have to create some possibility with the player's agent and find the best possible solution."
But which players could be on their way out of the Emirates? Here, Mirror Football picks out six stars the Gunners must sell this summer - including their record signing.
Hector Bellerin
Yes, Bellerin is still an Arsenal player - but for how much longer? The Spaniard, 27, spent last season on loan at Real Betis and it's claimed he wants to return to La Liga. Barcelona have been linked with the right-back, but a permanent move to Betis seems more likely.
Who should Arsenal sell? Let us know in the comments below!
"Bellerin really wants to come back," Betis star Borja Iglesias told Estadio Deportivo. "He has always said that he wants to play here, what happens is that he has been there for a long time at Arsenal. He gives us a lot inside and outside the locker room."
Bellerin has just one year left on his deal and Arsenal are unlikely to demand a big transfer fee. Some Gunners fans will be a disappointed to see him leave - viewing him as a decent back-up to Takehiro Tomiyasu - but it's time for all parties to move on.
Bernd Leno
It's a bit harsh for Leno to be branded dead wood. The 30-year-old is a decent goalkeeper, doing a solid job in most of his 125 games for the Gunners. Yet the emergence of Aaron Ramsdale has left Leno on the bench and a move would be best for all concerned.
Arsenal initially wanted £15million for the shot-stopper, despite his contract expiring next summer. The Germany international pleaded with the Gunners to drop their price, with Fulham keen, and it appears they've listened. According to the Evening Standard, the new fee is just £8m. It's hard to imagine Leno still being an Arsenal player come September.
Runar Alex Runarsson
The Icelandic goalkeeper, 27, is not a household name at the Emirates after making just six unimpressive appearances during the 2020-21 campaign and is unlikely to get the nod in net ahead of Ramsdale, Arthur Okonkwo and new signing Turner this term.
Runarsson spent last season on loan at OH Leuven and another move looks likely, even if it's temporary. There's not much speculation about his future at this stage and it could be another few weeks before Edu finds him a new club. The end is nigh for Runarsson.
Nicolas Pepe
As bad Premier League signings go, Pepe's move to Arsenal in the summer of 2019 takes some beating. The Gunners paid Lille £72m.- yes, £72m - for the winger's services, but he's scored just 16 Premier League goals and they're desperate to salvage some of that cash.
Pepe, 27, still has two years left on his contract and Leeds, Marseille, Lyon and Sevilla are considering a move. He wants to stay at the Emirates - saying he's "focused" on the new season - but Arsenal will be more than happy to let him go if they get £25m in return.
Lucas Torreira
The Uruguayan, 26, has spent the last two seasons on loan - at Atletico Madrid then Fiorentina - and it's believed he wants to leave the Emirates permanently. Valencia are leading the race for his signature, while Jose Mourinho's Roma are also thought to be keen.
But it's claimed Arteta is delaying Torreira's exit. "Torreira would like to stay and play in Italy but as of today, Arsenal have called him up for the tour they will do in America, so it looks like he's part of their plans," his agent, Pablo Bentancur, said earlier this month.
Although it's taking a while for Torreira to secure a transfer, he's still expected to quit Arsenal this summer after entering the final year of his contract. This saga could rumble on for a bit longer and Arteta might not let him go until another midfielder is signed.
Pablo Mari
The Spanish defender struggled in his two Premier League appearances last season and Arteta can't rely on him. He spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Udinese and it's unlikely he'll get a chance in the Gunners first team this time around following Saliba's return.
Mari, 28, still has two years left on his deal and Arsenal may struggle to find a buyer. A season-long loan deal would suit all concerned.
