5 players we’d love to see on Netflix’s Quarterback next season, including Jordan Love

With Netflix debuting its brand-new docuseries Quarterback this week, NFL fans have gotten a closer look at three of the game’s more recognizable talents.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and former Atlanta Quarterback Marcus Mariota were featured on the first season of the new series, a nice lineup of talents in different stages of their careers.

Now that we’ve gotten a look at the first set of episodes, it’s worth wondering how will the future of the show go.

While guys like Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will seem like popular picks for a second season, we’ve gathered five guys who we feel like would make for fascinating studies for the next possible round of Quarterback.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Bill Streicher/USA TODAY Sports

After coming up short in Super Bowl 57 after his breakout season in the NFL, Hurts will be making the climb back to postseason glory this fall with the Eagles.

Hurts’ story to get to where he is in Philly stands as one of the most fascinating journeys of any NFL quarterback, and it’d be great to see what his process is during the season and learn more about him off the field.

With the Eagles primed as Super Bowl contenders this fall, Hurts could also give the next season of Quarterback its best chance at following a signal caller all the way to the big game.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Raj Mehta/USA TODAY Sports

Who doesn’t want an inside look at how Love’s road goes in Green Bay as he replaces Aaron Rodgers as the Packers’ quarterback?

Love has had one of the strangest paths of any quarterback prospect in recent memory, as he’s been sitting behind Rodgers since being drafted in 2020. However, the franchise is now his as he’ll get his chance to prove he’s the worthy successor for Rodgers in Wisconsin.

There are not many NFL fans who wouldn’t want to see how Love’s first season as a starting quarterback goes, and Love just feels like a layup of a pick if he’d be game on letting us in on his big debut season.

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints

It’s always fun to track a comeback story, and it’d be fascinating to see how Carr’s first season with the Saints will go after spending his entire career with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carr has been one of the NFL’s most reliable starters, but he’s never really had that marquee season to really position him as one of the league’s best quarterbacks. Could he have that in New Orleans?

At the least, Carr’s journey could make for strong television. How will he transition to a new franchise and how will it shape the arc of his career? Netflix could be the perfect place for us to find out.

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

Gary A. Vasquez/USA TODAY Sports

Smith’s road to get to the Seahawks has been one of the most inspiring in the NFL, and it was amazing to see him finally live up to his potential in Seattle last season.

Will he be able to maintain that success? It’d be great to get a close look at Smith’s journey as it continues to be told with the Seahawks as that team’s quarterback. Can Smith help Seattle make a postseason run?

If anything, Smith’s story is one with plenty of drama along the way. It’d be fantastic for us to get a season’s look at Smith as he continues to establish himself as one of the most exciting comeback stories in recent memory.

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Jamie Sabau/USA TODAY Sports

Fields saw his star rise in 2022 on a Bear steam that couldn’t quite match his talents. Will his fortunes change in 2023 in the Windy City?

He would be an excellent candidate for the show, as it could capture a quarterback entering his prime who is trying to help a franchise that hasn’t had an elite talent at the position in some time.

Fields also went a bit later in the 2021 NFL Draft than expected, and it’d be fascinating to see how his draft positioning still guides his journey in the league.
