A blockchain is a decentralized, shared ledger that records transactions and tracks assets in a business network.
Such an asset can be a tangible one, like a car or a house, or even an intangible one, like property or patents. The goal of a blockchain is to allow digital information to be distributed and recorded, but not edited. This assures that information cannot be manipulated from any one centralized location. Transactions and records cannot be deleted, altered or destroyed.
