5 Jewellery Layering Trends You’re Seeing All Over Your Feed RN & How To Stack Them

jewellery stacking trend

For years, fashion has leaned heavily into the clean girl aesthetic — think delicate, barely-there gold hoops, matching fine chains, and an unwritten rule that your metals should never cross paths. But fashion loves a plot twist.

The era of rigid jewellery rules and minimal, matching sets has officially come to an end. One scroll through TikTok or Instagram, and you will see a clear shift toward curated chaos, intentional layering, extreme texture clashes, and deep personalisation when it comes to jewellery stacking.

Rather than buying pre-packaged sets straight off the shelves, people are creating layers and stacks that reveal a little about personal style or are unique to the occasion, explains Arms of Eve Founder, Kerryn Langer.

“Curating the perfect stack is all about layering pieces that reflect your personal style – whether that’s an everyday gold look or a statement stack for a special occasion.”

From breaking metal monogamy to mastering the art of ‘handscaping’, here are the key stacking trends dominating our feeds right now — and how you can dabble in them.

The Death of Metal Monogamy

The old standard of choosing only gold or only silver is dead. Mixed metals are having their moment, and striking a balance with cool silver and warm gold is an art.

Stylists and creators frequently advocate for a 70/30 ratio, using 70 per cent of one dominant metal to anchor the look while weaving in 30 per cent of another for visual friction. The way you can effortlessly blend them is by using a bridging piece — a single two-tone ring, watch, or chain that pulls both metals together and build around it.

Chunky Meets Fine

If you’re someone who loves fine jewellery, you know how messy it can be to layer fine chains. By using contrasting layers, you can avoid this tangled mess altogether.

Choose some heavier, chunkier layers and pair them with some finer details like pearls, simple diamonds and finer chains that reflect your personal style. “The key is mixing textures, shapes and meaningful details to create a look that feels effortlessly yours,” says Kerryn.

Charms Are Back, Baby

Like all Y2K revivals, charms are making a comeback, but not just for traditional charm bracelets. The trend is about chunky vintage-style charms, zodiac coins, initial pendants, and quirky daily-life trinkets being clipped directly onto heavy necklace chains, chokers and hoop earrings.

“At Arms Of Eve, we believe more is more. Our pieces are designed to celebrate confidence and individuality, and we’ve curated a collection of necklace, bracelet, earring and ring stacks that make layering effortless.”

This trend is really about expressing yourself through the finer details.

Handscaping and Asymmetrical Sister Ears

Layering has expanded far beyond basic necklace tiers — we’re now handscaping, ear-stacking, and lining rings on each of our fingers.

If you’re someone who loves a ring stack, you know that handscaping isn’t just about stacking rings on one or two fingers. It’s about creating dimension by stacking rings horizontally across multiple fingers — think pinky rings, thumb rings and midi ring stacks to make your hands look longer.

As for the wrists, it’s all about high-low styling — we’re talking diamond tennis bracelets stacked next to heavy cuffs, vintage leather watches, and beaded friendship-style bracelets.

Much like the traditional trend of metal monogamy, earrings were always treated as pairs. Now, we’re choosing to think of our ear stacks more like siblings, not twins. Try pairing a dramatic drop earring on one ear with an asymmetrical cluster of huggies, studs, and ear cuffs on the other.

Building Your Stack

“Start with a hero piece, such as a cuff bracelet, pendant necklace, hoop earring or ring. Then build your stack with complementary styles and finish with texture or sparkle,” explains Kerryn.

Next, she suggests weaving in your complementary pieces of medium weight, such as classic bands or mid-length paperclip chains, to support the main piece without competing for attention. Finally, lock in the stack with textural finishes like delicate snake chains, micro-pearls, or a splash of sparkle. This layered progression brings immediate dimension while keeping the overall styling cohesive.

Ultimately, whether you’re building a subtle everyday wrist stack or an extravagant neck party, it should be a reflection of you, says Kerryn. “However you choose to layer, the goal is simple: create a stack that feels effortless, personal and uniquely yours.”
