The Processing Fee That Isn't Small Print, It's the Whole Game
Every no-cost EMI offer carries a processing fee. Flipkart, Amazon, and most bank-partnered retail portals charge between 1% and 3% of the purchase value upfront as a "convenience" or "processing" charge. On a ₹30,000 laptop split across 12 months, that fee alone can run ₹600 to ₹900, which is exactly what the interest would have cost at a standard 12% annual rate. The fee is the interest, renamed.
