$5 Fast-Food Deals Are Back, But Is Five Bucks Enough for a Real Meal?
A branded paper bucket sits on a tabletop inside a KFC restaurant. Examining the return of five-dollar value deals helps budget-conscious diners figure out whether a modest five bucks can actually secure a satisfying meal or if inflation has made cheap fast food too small to count. Shutterstock.

For years, $5 was the number shoppers associated with a cheap fast-food meal. Today, that same price can still unlock a surprisingly complete order, but it does not always mean the same thing from one restaurant to another.
