49ers rookie DE Drake Jackson practices after shoulder injury

The 49ers’ biggest injury scare in their preseason opener came late in the second quarter when rookie defensive end Drake Jackson left the game with a shoulder injury. He didn’t return to action, but he was back in practice Sunday as a full participant.

Jackson was evaluated in the medical tent before walking to the locker room Friday night. Head coach Kyle Shanahan after the game indicated the club was hopeful it was just a stinger. Further testing confirmed the diagnosis.

The injury happened on a pretty impressive play by the rookie defensive end. He was caught up by a couple blockers when Packers quarterback Jordan Love took off around the left side. Jackson fought off the blocks and met Love at the corner to run him down. The way he landed was where the injury occurred.

The ailment didn’t hinder Jackson in the team’s Sunday session, which is good news and the club managed escape their first preseason contest without any major injuries.
