The 49ers could go into their Thursday night matchup against the Giants without their leading wide receiver and one of their nickel cornerbacks.
WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) and CB Ambry Thomas (knee) are both officially questionable after limited practices Tuesday and Wednesday due to injuries they suffered in Week 2.
Buy 49ers TicketsAiyuk played sparingly after hurting his shoulder on the first series of the 49ers’ win over the Rams. Thomas, who plays outside when Deommodore Lenoir is in the slot, was also used sparingly Sunday after his injury per head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan didn’t sound worried about any long-term damage for either player, but it would make sense if the club played it safe on a short week the third week of the season. On the other hand, if they’re ready to suit up and aren’t at risk of further injury, the 49ers would surely like to see both players in uniform to bolster the top of their WR group and their depth in the secondary.
