49ers defensive tackle Arik Armstead suffered a torn meniscus in Week 13 that will require offseason surgery. Armstead on Tuesday relayed the news to reporters during the team’s locker cleanout day.
Armstead missed the team’s final five games with what were classified as knee and foot injuries. He returned for the postseason and managed to rack up 11 tackles, a tackle for loss, two QB hits and 1.0 sacks in three games.
The hope is that offseason knee surgery will allow Armstead to return in time for training camp in late July.
