The 49ers and former Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave have agreed to a four-year, $80 million deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
The deal also guarantees Hargrave $40 million when he signs with the 49ers, which he won’t be able to do until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 15, when the 2023 season officially begins.
Hargrave is coming off three seasons in Philadelphia, which includes a Super Bowl LVII appearance in which the Eagles lost 38–35 to the Chiefs last month. He earned his one Pro Bowl berth in 2021 while with the Eagles. His three-year contract with the Eagles was set to expire this offseason.
Hargrave, a third-round draft pick of the Steelers in 2016, finished tied for 14th in the league with 11 sacks in the 2022 season. The league sack leader last season with 49ers’ Nick Bosa, who finished with 18.5 sacks. Now these two will be teammates in San Francisco.
The 49ers finished the year with a loss in the NFC championship game coincidentally to the Eagles.
