47 Y.O. Man Charged With Murder After Allegedly Stabbing Woman In Front Of Her Kids In Melbourne

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 51-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death in front of three young people — including two of her kids — in a Melbourne home.

On Saturday, emergency services were called to a property at Bayswater at about 11.15am after they received reports of a stabbing.

When authorities arrived, a woman was found dead in the Cousin Drive home. Shortly after a Bayswater man was arrested and was taken to hospital under police guard.

He has since been charged with one count of murder.

It is understood that the man knocked on the woman’s home before he allegedly attacked her multiple times with a knife, 9News reports.

It is also reported that the alleged incident took place in front of three young children including the woman’s two children — aged 16 and 11 — and the alleged attacker’s son, aged 17. The publication also reported that the 17-year-old boy had wounds to his home.

Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Ellway said the matter is “not a family violence” but a “tragic set of circumstances”.

When asked about the children, Ellway said: “They’re being looked after at the police station at the moment, statements are being taken and their welfare is being taken care of there.”

“Another woman lost at the hands of a man is just horrible,” Ellway continued.

The man is set to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers online or at 1800 333 000.

Help is available.
