4 things to know about Colts’ new DE Titus Leo

The Indianapolis Colts used their only sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft to select edge rusher Titus Leo out of Wagner College.

While not much has been known about Leo during the pre-draft process, he will have a chance to compete for one of the final roles in the defensive line room throughout training camp and the preseason.

Here are four things to know about the sixth-round pick:

1
Bruce Feldman 'Freaks List'

In the nicest way possible, Leo is considered a freak when it comes to his athleticism. He appeared in Bruce Feldman’s “College Football Freaks List” for the 2022 season, which highlights the best athletes across the nation.

Here’s what Feldman had to say about Leo, who came in at No. 92 on the list:

A first-team FCS All-American, Leo was the Northeast Conference defensive player of the year for the second consecutive season. The 6-4, 250-pound Leo bench pressed 375 pounds and can do 30 pull-ups. This offseason, the former high school wide receiver vertical-jumped 34 inches, did a 10-5 broad jump and clocked a 4.41 shuttle.

2
Sixth-round pick added during draft

The Colts didn’t enter the draft holding a sixth-round pick. They traded their original selection in the round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a part of the Grant Stuard deal. However, the Colts were able to select Leo because they made a draft-day trade with the Minnesota Vikings. They sent the No. 141 pick to the Vikings for Nos. 158 (Daniel Scott) and 211.

Two-time captain

Leo was a two-time team captain for Wagner during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He also participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl, which is where the Colts became intrigued by him as a prospect.
