By now, Fashion Month has all but consumed our social feeds with glamorous snaps of street style, Hollywood’s best-dressed rubbing shoulders FROW and a steady stream of stunning runway looks–the latter of which we’re here to dissect.
As the Spring/Summer 2025 collections saunter down the Fashion Week runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris, we’re beginning to notice key trends and takeaways we can already predict will be filtering down into our wardrobes in the seasons to come.
Fashion Week Runway Trends
Below, we round up the key Fashion Week runway trends you need to know for all your sartorial inspiration and shopping ahead.
Sharp Shoulders & Bold Collars
There’s no shortage of drama or fun to be had when it comes to our collarbones. From sharp and exaggerated shoulders plucked straight from the ‘80s at Balmain and Saint Laurent to statement and layered collars at Chanel and Schiaparelli, tops and jackets were given a little extra oomph this season.
Sensual & Boudoir Dressing
Underwear as outerwear is not new to the runways, nor is sheer dressing. This Spring/Summer ’25 season, designers had a particular penchant for sultry lace styles and soft, flowing chiffons.
The sartorial pendulum swings from seductive and smouldering at Balenciaga to ethereal and feminine at Chanel and Stella McCartney.
Fabulous Fringes
There’s something about tassels that tantalise our sense–the audible swish as they saunter down a runway, the visual delight as they sway in the light and the tactile nature they bring to a piece of clothing.
Clearly, the allure of a fringe was prominent this season, as Gucci, Diesel, Ralph Lauren and many dabbled in the fun detail throughout their collections.
Boho Is Back
The signature femme flutter of boho chic isn’t just being revived by Chloe, now also appearing Fendi’s Milan Fashion Week show where sheer, free-flowing skirts and dresses were paired with lace up boots in earthy tones and pastels.
“The boho trend which has been revamped by Chloe with their new designer Chemena Kamali, is having a filtering effect. I could really see that at Fendi, it was very pretty and feminine,” marie claire Australia’s Fashion Director, Naomi Smith explains.
Of course, Chloe’s Spring/Summer collection also leaned into the ’70s (and noughties) trend revival, with plenty of embroidered sheer lace, platforms and voluminous, flowing dresses.
Delectable Chocolate Brown & Pops Of Lime
We’ll never be convinced any colour is “the new black” but the Spring/Summer 2025 collections are the closest we’ve come to benign swayed. The ruways were awash in deliciously deep hues of chocolate browns and creamy caramels, most notably at Max Mara, Alaïa and Versace.
At the other end of the scale, pops or red and Barbie pinks have made way for citrus-bright shades of green, seen at 16Arlington, Versace, Gucci and more.
Clash Of The Coat
Dressed to the nine is sequins and sparkles? For the likes of Prada and Burberry, a classic evening coat won’t do, it’s all about the juxtaposing parker.
“Glitter dresses with anoraks on top, were a surprising trend,” Naomi notes.
From windbreakers to sports jackets, it was a matter of form meets function on the Spring/Summer runways
