4 injured following partial crane collapse in Atlanta, cops say

ATLANTA — Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a partial crane collapse at a construction site in Midtown Atlanta on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident happened at 1020 Spring St., Atlanta police said. The construction is at the site of a planned residential tower at the corner of Spring and 10th streets, called Spring Quarter. It is set to open in 2025.

Heavy police and firefighter activity was blocking parts of Spring, West Peachtree and 10th streets, according to Atlanta police spokesperson Aaron Fix. Officers are in the area helping with traffic control. Fix confirmed there was building structure damage at the location.

The four people injured were taken to a hospital, according to police. Atlanta Fire Rescue representatives have not responded to questions about the incident.

Spring Quarter will be a mixed-use development designed around the historic H.M. Patterson Funeral Home/Spring Hill Mortuary. When completed, it will have 370 luxury residential units and 525,000 square feet of office space. Portman Holdings released renderings of the three-tower development in August 2022.
