VISAKHAPATNAM: Four coaches out of 11 in a passenger train from Visakhapatnam to Kirnadul on the Kottavalasa-Kirandul Line (KK Line) were derailed in between Jeypore-Chetriput on Monday evening.
Luckily, there were no casualties or injuries to anyone. Four bogies were derailed due to looseness of tracks, as per the preliminary inquiry. Railway authorities arranged buses and cars for the stranded passengers of the train.
According to sources, the accident took place at around 3.10pm after passing 230 km from Vizag. The passenger train started from Vizag Railway station at 6.30am with two Vistadome coaches (total see-through glass roof and sides). It is scheduled to reach Kirandul at 10 pm. After reaching Araku Valley, two Vistadome coaches were removed from the composition of the train.
After learning this, Waltair Railway Division Railway Manager Anup Kumar Satpathy visited the accident site and instructed the officers to restore the line as early as possible. BY 8.20 pm, the restoration was completed All four bogies were restored and the line was open for the transactions.
