4 Amritsar & Ludhiana seats record less than 60% turnout, 11 in Malwa over 80%

BATHINDA: The four assembly segments recorded the polling percentage at less than 60% which is much lower than the overall percentage of 71.95% in Punjab in the February 20 assembly elections. Against this, the 11 assembly segments recorded polling percentage at or over 80% which is at least 8% more than the average polling percentage in Punjab.

Interestingly, all four assembly segments where low polling was recorded are urban assembly segments in Amritsar and Ludhiana and all the 11 assembly segments that recorded the highest poll percentage are either rural or semi-urban assembly constituencies from five districts of Malwa — Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa.
