39 govt schemes have failed to take off in Delhi, claims BJP

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi only made announcements in the Capital but never implemented those schemes on the ground.

Addressing a press conference, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta claimed that the AAP government launched 39 schemes in its seven years of tenure but the residents of Delhi could not enjoy the benefits of even one.

“The Kejriwal government has so far announced 39 schemes with much fanfare but nobody has any idea about their status,” Gupta claimed. No immediate reaction was available from AAP.

Gupta alleged that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also the national convener of AAP, talks about free education, unemployment allowance and good healthcare facilities in his public addresses in poll-bound states but none of them have been implemented on ground in Delhi.

“Who has stopped the Kejriwal government in Delhi from opening new colleges, schools and hospitals? Slum dwellers have not got pucca houses in the Capital because the PM Awaas Yojna has not been implemented. Only 353 of 1,797 unauthorised colonies have got tap water so far whereas announcement was made to provide potable water to all,” Gupta said, alleging that both Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia have only helped their close friends make a profit of Rs 8,000 crore under the new excise policy.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri alleged that the AAP government had promised 100 new schools and 20 new colleges but not even one has been opened. “Rather, 31 schools running and one college have been shut down. Employees of 12 state government-run colleges haven’t got their salaries for quite some time,” Bidhuri alleged.

About 94% of the budget allotted for labour welfare hasn’t been utilised, Bidhuri claimed.
