BENGALURU: The arrest of former Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner J Manjunath has exposed the corrupt underbelly of the district DC's office, which has been riddled with charges of bribery and rampant graft for several years.
While Manjunath is the latest officer to be arrested, several of his predecessors and their subordinates, including tahsildars, were also nabbed by various enforcement agencies on charges of corruption, making the coveted revenue administration office in the IT City jinxed. "Three deputy commissioners and one assistant commissioner attached to Bengaluru Urban district office have faced serious allegations and have been arrested. The coveted post comes with a huge risk," was the talk in bureaucratic circles on Monday.
