Tom's Guide top picks to stream after 'Wonder Man'

If you just finished "Wonder Man" and you're wondering what's next, we totally understand. The Marvel miniseries was a bit of a departure from its normal superhero fare, putting Yahya Abdul-Mateen in the shoes of its titular character as he tries to earn the lead role in a remake of the in-universe Wonder Man film. It's silly to be sure, and a fun take on Hollywood's weirdness. But where do you go from here?

That's the question we're here to answer. It might not be immediately apparent which type of vibes you're looking for in a show you watch as a follow-up to "Wonder Man," but there are options from the MCU, DC Universe and more. So we've done the hard work for you. Check out our picks for the three shows to watch after you finish "Wonder Man" below.

'WandaVision'

"WandaVision" was a bold left turn for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This show may seem like a harmless sitcom at first. It features Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and her husband Vision (Paul Bettany) living an idyllic suburban life and hopping through different decades of TV history. Yes, each episode mimics a new era of classic TV, a unique twist for any show, let alone a superhero series.

But what starts as a playful homage to sitcom situations turns into something far more sinister. Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, can harness chaos magic and alter reality, and it's revealed that she might have done exactly that. As the outside world starts pushing in and Wanda’s past trauma resurfaces, the laughs turn to horror, and you're in for a wild ride.

'The Boys'

Brutal, cynical, and unapologetically violent, "The Boys" is the anti-superhero show that flips the genre inside out. In this world, heroes are global celebrities and PR disasters, though they're typically protected from consequences by money and the powerful Vought International.

That all changes, though, after some innocent people caught up in the superpowered carnage decide to fight back. A group led by the ruthless Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) works relentlessly to expose the heroes, particularly Homelander (Antony Starr), the most powerful superhero on Earth. Of course, Homelander and Vought won't go quietly, and that means that our heroes might not make it out of this conflict alive.

'Peacemaker'

"Peacemaker" is insanely fun. It takes one of DC’s most ridiculous characters, Chris Smith, aka the titular Peacemaker, and turns him into a sight to be seen. Chris (John Cena) believes in peace at any cost, and he'll do what he can to achieve it.

A spinoff of the 2021 movie "The Suicide Squad," this series begins with Peacemaker forced onto a black-ops team tasked with stopping a mysterious alien threat. The team instantly sees through his bluster and bravado, and as you'd expect, that doesn't initially go over so well. But after some initial bumps, the team quickly learns how to work together and get through their differences, all while Peacemaker doles out his own brand of vigilante justice.
