Paramount+ is a great streaming service for your next movie marathon. It adds dozens of movies a month, many on the first day of the new month; it just added 147 new movies and shows on April 1. One of these, "Day of the Fight," is even making its streaming debut this month.
So with that many newly added movies to choose from, it can be tough to know where to start. I've looked through the full list, and I've found the three movies you need to watch first this weekend. One is the aforementioned boxing film, but there's also one of this year's big horror hits and a sci-fi masterpiece from "Dune: Part Three" director Denis Villeneuve.
Without further ado, here are the three new to Paramount+ movies you need to be streaming this weekend. If you need more recommendations, check out our full guide to everything new on Paramount+ in April 2026.
'Day of the Fight' (2023)
Genre: Sports drama
What's it about? Mike Flannigan (Michael Pitt) is a former middleweight champion, but his life took a turn when he went to prison. Now, he's trying to make a comeback at the iconic Madison Square Garden, but along the way, he'll revisit chapters from his past, and some of his demons will come back to visit him.
Why you should watch it: This movie feels like a pastiche of great boxing movies, but it does seem compelling in its own right. Even if the emotional depths of the story don't intrigue you, the cast probably will. Alongside Pitt, the call sheet includes Joe Magaro, Joe Pesci, Steve Buscemi and Ron Perlman, and I'd watch just about anything with those four actors in it.

'Primate' (2026)
Genre: Horror
What's it about? An adopted pet chimpanzee gets bitten by a rabid mongoose and suddenly becomes violent. It does not go well for his adopted family and those around them.
Why you should watch it: This movie isn't "Planet of the Apes." This ape isn't going to take over the world; "Primate" is just pure horror. Don't miss one of the biggest horror movies of the year now that you can stream it at home.

'Arrival' (2016)
Genre: Sci-fi drama
What's it about? When 12 alien craft land across the globe, the U.S. Army tasks linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) with establishing communication with the ship hovering over Montana. As if learning to talk to an extraterrestrial species wasn't difficult enough, if she fails, the consequence could be global war.
Why you should watch it: This movie won just one of the eight Oscars it was nominated for (Sound Editing), but it's now considered among the best of the 2010s. The sci-fi story is brilliant, and it plays with the concept of linear time and what it would be like to know one's future. "Arrival" is definitely not your average alien invasion flick.
