The Chicago Bulls made sure to stay active on the first night of free agency, bringing back 23-year-old Coby White on a new contract and signing veteran point guard Jevon Carter to a three-year deal, too. Plus, a few days before the beginning of free agency, they inked Nikola Vucevic to a three-year contract extension.
That being said, there are still plenty of solid players left available in free agency, and Chicago has a lot of work to do. But now, they could have an extra tool in their belt to use. The Bulls have applied for a $10.2 million DPE due to Lonzo Ball’s injury, giving them a pathway to add a solid player in free agency.
With that in mind, here are three players they should target with the $10.2 million DPE they might be receiving.
3 players Bulls should target after first 3 days of NBA free agency: Torrey Craig
Heading into free agency, it seemed likely that Torrey Craig would return to the Phoenix Suns. But now, the Suns roster is filling up, and Craig is still sitting in free agency. The veteran would be a perfect fit on the Bulls, giving them a boost on both ends with his three-point shooting and defensive presence at the forward spot.
3 players Bulls should target after first 3 days of NBA free agency: PJ Washington
There’s a good chance PJ Washington is looking for at least the MLE ($12.4 million), but with the rumblings that the Charlotte Hornets could be targeting Grant Williams, maybe Washington is forced to move on. If that’s the case and he’s forced to take a small paycut due to the free agency money drying up, a one-year, prove-it deal with the Bulls for their DPE could make some sense.
3 players Bulls should target after first 3 days of NBA free agency: Malik Beasley
With the Los Angeles Lakers declining his team option and making him a free agent, Malik Beasley will be looking for a new home. If he wants to take a prove-it deal in hopes of landing more money next summer, a one-year contract with Chicago could make sense for both sides, as the Bulls could use his three-point shooting.
