Daizen Maeda is oneeof three Celtic players on their way back to Glasgow after injury on international duty.
The winger missed out on Japan's friendly with Uruguay on Friday and was still in the squad for Tuesday's match with Colombia despite missing that one with lingering concerns. But now the Land of the Rising Sun's FA have confirmed he is out of the squad and won't be replaced.
Fellow winger Liel Abada meanwhile is en route to Lennoxtown, according to Israeli media. He sat out of their opening Euro 2024 qualifier versus Kosovo and will not be in Switzerland, as Celtic 'demanded' Abada returned to start rehab ASAP despite his nation wanting him around. Anthony Ralston meanwhile only joined the Scotland squad this week but the right-back has already pulled out ahead of the nation's tantalising Hampden showdown with Spain in just over 48 hours time. James Forrest, Greg Taylor and Reo Hatate have already picked up injuries recently ahead of next weekend's meeting against Ross County.
A statement on Maeda read: "We would like to inform you that Daizen Maeda (Celtic) will leave the Samurai Blue due to an injury as they prepare for Colombia on Tuesday, March 28. There is no call-up of a player to replace Maeda."
