Not everyone’s going to be in the mood for a romantic watch this Valentine’s week. As a huge dark thriller and horror fan, it’s the genre I naturally lean toward even during the season of love. That means I’ll be convincing my partner to queue up something tense, unsettling, and a little darker.
That’s where Prime Video’s one-season psychological thrillers truly stand out. These shows know where they’re headed from the start, diving straight into the tension and slow-burning suspense without dragging things out. With tighter episode counts and more focused storytelling, there are more engaging twists and less filler to keep you watching.
If you’re short on time or craving something absorbing that doesn’t demand weeks of commitment, Prime Video has some standout psychological thrillers that prove shorter can be far more effective. Here are three you can easily binge in a single weekend.
‘Wilderness’ (2023)
Anyone seeking a thrilling miniseries will want to stream “Wilderness,” which packs in the twists, shock value and polished storyline in just six episodes. Based on the novel of the same name by B. E. Jones, this series offers a fast-moving take on infidelity and the unraveling of a relationship, backed by beautiful locations and the occasional jaw-dropping plot twist. It doesn’t burden viewers with heavy moral questions or relentless drama. Instead, it’s knowingly mordant and a bit cheesy, and that, along with strong performances from Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, makes it an entertaining time.
“Wilderness” centers around Liv (Coleman) and Will (Jackson-Cohen), a seemingly happy couple whose life in New York changes when Liv discovers that Will has been unfaithful. In an effort to salvage their relationship, Will suggests a road trip through iconic American National Parks. As they travel from place to place, what was meant to be a getaway becomes tense and unpredictable when Liv starts pursuing her own agenda. Along the way, they encounter another couple whose presence complicates everything.

‘Tell Me Your Secrets’ (2021)
A more horror-tinged series perfect for viewers in the mood for something darker, “Tell Me Your Secrets” delivers everything you want in a gripping psychological thriller. This show does a great job of keeping the mystery alive and tying the threads together, with the early episodes feeling like a pressure cooker ready to blow. Questions of who to trust, how the characters are connected, and how far they’ll go under pressure all make “Tell Me Your Secrets” a compelling watch.
“Tell Me Your Secrets” follows three individuals with complicated pasts. Emma (Lily Rabe), formerly involved with a dangerous killer, is now living under a new identity in witness protection. Mary (Amy Brenneman) is a mother determined to find her long‑missing daughter, whom she believes is still alive. To help her search, Mary enlists John (Hamish Linklater), a man recently released from prison. As their lives intersect, their choices pull them further into a tangle of secrets.

‘Lazarus’ (2025)
“Lazarus,” a psychological thriller from bestselling author Harlan Coben, is the kind of binge-worthy series that will have you second-guessing everything by the end of the first episode. While Coben is known for adapting his novels into twist-packed TV, this one stands out as a fully original story created specifically for the small screen. The series maintains a strong momentum with a satisfying stream of surprises and revelations, alongside the lead character’s increasingly uncanny experiences. Thanks to its surreal visuals during the eerie ghost-like scenes, “Lazarus” carries a uniquely mysterious, almost otherworldly tone that really works.
Joel Lazarus (Sam Claflin) is a forensic psychiatrist who returns to his hometown after the apparent suicide of his father, Dr. Jonathan Lazarus (Bill Nighy). Not convinced his father took his own life, Joel soon starts experiencing disturbing, unexplained events and becomes drawn into a series of cold‑case murders. He finds connections to the unsolved murder of his younger sister from 25 years earlier. Alongside Joel are figures from his past, including his childhood friend Seth McGovern (David Fynn), ex Bella Catton (Karla Crome), and Detective Alison Brown (Kate Ashfield), all of whom become part of his search for answers.
