Pritesh Lakhani, the Ahmedabad-based founder of Pneucons, shared the incident on X, claiming that the engineer’s horoscope warned he could cause someone’s death if he drove a vehicle. According to Lakhani, the prediction has shaped the man’s life to such an extent that he never learned to ride a bicycle, let alone drive a car.
"Devils are not born; they are made, sometimes by horoscope," Lakhani wrote in his post.
He explained that the 28-year-old, who is employed in the IT sector and is also the father of a toddler, still relies on his father for his daily commute to work.
"I met a 28-year-old IT engineer and father to a toddler. He is not allowed to drive any vehicle because his kundli says he might kill someone," Lakhani wrote.
He further revealed that the man has never been allowed to learn cycling or operate any type of vehicle because of the astrological prediction.
"His father drops him at the office every day. He has never learned how to ride a bicycle or any type of vehicle," Lakhani added, ending his post with a sarcastic remark: "I couldn’t resist and asked the uncle what his kundli says about AI."
What Is a Kundli?
A kundli, also known as a Janam Kundli or birth chart, is a key element of Indian astrology. It maps the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, and zodiac signs at the exact date, time, and place of a person's birth.
Astrologers use kundlis to make predictions about various aspects of life, including career, education, health, finances, and marriage compatibility. While many people consult kundlis before making major life decisions, others remain skeptical of their scientific validity.
Social Media Divided
Lakhani's post quickly gained attention, triggering mixed reactions from social media users.
Many questioned the extent to which people allow astrological predictions to dictate their lives. One X user wrote, "What amazes me isn't astrology itself, but how readily people outsource their own judgment to it. If there is a creator watching all this, I sometimes imagine even they would chuckle over dinner at humans trusting a chart more than the mind they were given."
Others defended astrology, arguing that specific planetary combinations in a kundli can indicate potential dangers. One user commented, "It is not a fallacy. Chara and Mrityu karaka along with related placements are very effective in understanding this."
Another user shared a similar experience, saying, "A friend of mine never married because his horoscope said he would be widowed. He consulted several astrologers. He was a handsome man with many suitors. I couldn't believe highly educated people live with such superstition."
The discussion has once again highlighted the divide between believers in traditional astrology and those who argue that life-changing decisions should be based on personal judgment rather than horoscope predictions.
