27-stone MMA fighter flattened by tiny rival in mismatch bout

A 27-stone MMA fighter was flattened by his considerably smaller rival.

Blogger Alexey Belyaev, 27, took on his smaller nine-stone opponent Vladislav Popov, 18, as part of the latest Epic Fighting Championship in Russia.

The events are infamous for their fighting mismatches and have seen two-on-one fights as well as matches involving pensioners and clashes between genders, The Mirror writes.

On this particular occasion, Belyaev weighed in at 175kg compared to his opponent who was just 57kg. The larger man also enjoyed a 20cm height advantage.

The blogger was completely out of his depth as Popov, whose nickname is 'Psycho', swung punches at him.

But such was Belyaev's size that he was able to smother most of the attacks from his small opponent.

At one point in the first round, Belyaev manages to get his opponent in a headlock before a cornerman climbs over the cage in a bid to separate the fighters.

He is chased away by the referee but Popov swings a left hand on the break and Belyaev crashes to the canvas.

He is tended to by his team before the fight resumes, with Belyaev prevailing in the second round when he takes his rival to the ground and then finishes the fight with blows from the top.

The beaten man's corner appeared to throw a pair of gloves in to the cage in an act of surrender, leaving Popov furious.

Popov had one legitimate MMA fight last year, losing to Saimumin Madiev by submission.

He also teamed up with Ramzan Amsadoev as a tag-team against Vitaly Bykov in an earlier Epic show.

Unsurprisingly the two-man team won before a brawl broke out after members of the fighters' teams stormed the cage.
