A total of 266,824 pilgrims from across the globe have so far arrived in Madinah to perform this year’s holy Hajj pilgrimage, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.
Figures from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah showed that 215,580 pilgrims have arrived through the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport and 17,774 arrived through land border crossings.
Pilgrims from Bangladesh made up the majority of pilgrims at 12,627, followed by Nigeria with 9,452, India with 8,857, Indonesia with 7,174 and Iraq with 6,661.
The figures showed that 171,606 pilgrims left Madinah for the holy sites in Makkah. As of Saturday, 95,194 pilgrims were staying in Madinah.
Authorities are working around the clock to welcome arriving pilgrims through the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport and the immigration center.
