A man allegedly involved in a chaotic social media event at Mayfield has now been charged with stealing $250,000 in unregistered motorbikes.
Newcastle and Lake Macquarie police, backed by the dog squad and the Northern Region Operations Support Group, carried out raids across the Hunter on Tuesday, July 14, under Operation Horizon.
Officers searched a Fullerton Cove home at that time, where they seized five motorbikes, clothing, helmets and electronics, and arrested a 21-year-old man, Jayden Patrick Moon.
The operation was launched to investigate an event promoted on social media by streetwear brand Bad Apples at the skate park at Dangar Park on Sunday, June 14.
Moon was granted bail after his arrest on July 14 but extensive investigations led police to arrest Moon again at Raymond Terrace Police Station about 9.30am on Wednesday, August 19.
Officers allege the 21-year-old man committed several break and enters in the past year, allegedly stealing $250,000 in unregistered motorbikes.
Moon was charged with 33 offences, including 13 counts of aggravated break and enter, and four counts each of driving disqualified and driving recklessly or furiously.
Moon was refused bail to face court on the fresh charges on Thursday, August 20, where his earlier bail conditions were revoked. He will remain behind bars ahead of his next court appearance.
Moon was already facing seven charges related to the Bad Apples event, including rioting, which remain before the courts.
Operation Horizon police have arrested nine people and seized more than 25 unregistered motorbikes.
Police attended the skate park about 1pm, including officers from the riot squad and the PolAir helicopter, after reports a large group had gathered.
Officers found up to 200 people had converged on the park, where Bad Apples was promising cash and merchandise giveaways.
Police allege up to another 40 people were riding unregistered trail bikes in parkland and on surrounding streets. Officers closed nearby streets to restore order.
