25 hr countdown for tomorrow's PSLV-C55 commercial mission begins

Chennai: The 25-hour countdown for ISRO's dedicated commercial mission for sending into orbit two Singapore Satellites using its workhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C55 began at the SHAR Range, Sriharikota today.

The 44.4 m four tall home grown rocket, with a lift off mass of 238 tons, will lift off from the First Launch Pad at 1419 hrs tomorrow. The countdown began at 1319 hrs today, ISRO sources told UNI.

During the countdown, propellant filling operations will be carried out in the four-stage vehicle. PSLV-C55 will carry TeLEOS-2 as primary satellite and Lumelite-4 as a co-passenger satellite--both belonging to Singapore and weigh about 741 kg and 16 kg, respectively.

About 20 minutes after the lift off, ISRO's workhorse and the reliable PSLV-C55 will inject the satellites in a 586 km Eastward low inclination orbit. PSLV-C55 is a dedicated Commercial PSLV mission of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), for international satellite customer from Singapore.

In this mission, TeLEOS-2 a Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite is the primary satellite and Lumelite-4 an Technology Demonstration nano satellite is the co-passenger satellite.

This is the 57th flight of PSLV and 16th mission using the PSLV Core Alone configuration (PSLV-CA).
