There were 97 more Covid-19 fatalities and 24,892 new cases recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Monday.
This compared with the 97 coronavirus-related fatalities and 26,840 new cases reported on Sunday morning.
The figures did not include 15,972 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 40,864.
Bangkok had eight more deaths and there were 12 in adjacent provinces - in Samut Prakan (4), Samut Sakhon (4), Pathum Thani (2) and Nakhon Pathom (2).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 31 deaths - six in Lop Buri, five in Chon Buri, four each in Saraburi and Suphan Buri, three each in Ratchaburi and Rayong, two in Trat and one each in Chachoengsao, Ayutthaya, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The Northeast had 18 fatalities - three each in Chaiyaphum, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani, two each in Roi Et, Kalasin and Sakon Nakhon and one each in Udon Thani, Surin and Buri Ram.
The South reported 13 deaths - three in Phatthalung, two each in Surat Thani, Chumphon and Songkhla and one each in Krabi, Trang, Yala and Pattani.
The North saw 15 more coronavirus-related fatalities - in Chiang Mai (5), Sukhothai (3), Phitsanulok (3), Phichit (2), Chiang Rai (1) and Kamphaeng Phet (1).
There were 24,826 new cases in the general population, 20 among prison inmates and 46 imported cases.
Of the new infections in the general population, 24,638 were confirmed at hospitals and 188 via mass testing.
Bangkok had the most new cases at 3,321, followed by 1,448 in Chon Buri, 1,127 in Nonthaburi, 955 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 907 in Samut Prakan, 805 in Samut Sakhon, 666 in Khon Kaen, 581 in Songkhla, 573 in Ratchaburi and 567 in Roi Et.
The 46 imported cases came from 19 countries and included 11 from the United Kingdom, six each from Israel and Cambodia, three each from India and Germany and two each from Ukraine, Singapore and Myanmar.
On Wednesday 256,667 people received Covid-19 treatment – 63,348 at hospitals, including 1,858 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation and 769 dependent on ventilators.
The 24-hour period also saw 27,254 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 3,736,487 Covid-19 cases, including 1,513,052 this year, with 3,454,308 complete recoveries to date.
The death toll stood at 25,512 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 3,814 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 779,220 in 24 hours to 491.75 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,893 to 6.17 million.
Over the past seven days, South Korea had the most cases of 2.05 million, followed by Germany with 1.39 million cases, France with 968,279 cases and Vietnam with 530,786 cases.
