A 23-year-old woman who is just 3ft 10 ins tall has told of her new love interest - a 26-year-old Welshman. Tiny Shauna Rae Lesick weighs 50lbs - about the same as an eight-year-old girl.
Her family had feared she would attract paedophiles because of the way she looks - but now she has introduced them to Welsh traveller Dan Swygart. Shauna made the revelation in a new episode of her TLC series I Am Shauna Rae.
She told viewers how they had begun talking after Dan sent her flowers and contacted her on social media after seeing the first series of the show. The Mirror reports how their relationship had developed with Shauna saying: "Dan and I met through social media, and we talked for a couple months.
"He travels so often, so he doesn't have service everywhere he goes. We kind of just got along, and we have a lot similar in our lives."
Shauna, whose height is a side-effect of treatment for brain cancer she had as a child, said she was interested in Dan because she shared his love of travelling. "He's just a nice guy," she said.
Dan visited her at her hometown of Long Island, New York, and they went on a date to the aquarium and even tried an escape room joined by Shauna's 18-year-old sister Rylee.
Shauna said: "Rylee and I were both very anxious because we didn't know what he wanted. He was also talking to both of us casually, so we didn't know who he was into."
Then on their next date, Dan visited her house to make sushi rolls and she introduced him to her mum Patty and stepfather Mark Schrankel. They quizzed him after previously saying they were worried their daughter would attract paedophiles because of her stature and appearance.
But Dan was a hit and Mark commented to camera during the show: "I think Dan would be a really good match for Shauna because he's very smart [and] adventurous. Shauna's smart but not very adventurous. I think he could pull her out of [her] comfort zone but still make her safe."
Shauna admitted that she's not sure what the future holds for her and Dan because she's not sure how a long-distance relationship would work. "I haven't actually really thought about if Dan and I were in a relationship and how that would look," she said. "I assume that we would probably try long distance, but I've been in a long-distance relationship. It's not my cup of tea."
