A man has died after falling from a high rise building in Newcastle city centre.
Police rushed to Swan House roundabout just after 1pm on Friday afternoon after receiving reports of concern for a man's welfare.
When officers reached Pilgrim street, they found a 23-year-old man who had sadly lost his life. He is believed to have fallen from a property.
There is not believed to have been any third party involvement and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 1pm today (Friday) officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the Pilgrim Street area of Newcastle.
"Officers attended and found a 23-year-old male who was sadly deceased, after he was believed to have fallen from a property.
"His next of kin have been informed. “There is not believed to have been any third party involvement and a report will be made for the coroner."
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) sent a specialist paramedic and a double crewed ambulance to the scene.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called just after 1pm today to an incident on Pilgrim Street, Newcastle, and we dispatched a specialist paramedic and a double crewed ambulance."
