There were 45 more Covid-19 fatalities and 22,197 new cases recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Wednesday morning.
This compares with 20,420 new cases registered on Monday, the third consecutive day of declines, and 43 coronavirus-related fatalities.
The 45 fatalities were aged from 28 to 98 years. Twenty-four caught the virus from acquaintances and 15 live in outbreak areas.
Bangkok had one new death and there were six more in adjacent provinces - two each in Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Prakan.
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded eight deaths - two in Chon Buri and one each in Chanthaburi, Ayutthaya, Ratchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachin Buri, and Suphan Buri.
The Northeast had eight more fatalities - two each in Buri Ram, Si Sa Ket and Amnat Charoen and one each in Nakhon Ratchasima and Ubon Ratchathani.
The South reported 14 more deaths - four in Phuket, two each in Krabi and Chumphon and one each in Phatthalung, Surat Thani, Pattani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat and Songkhla.
The North had eight fatalities - three in Chiang Rai, two in Phrae and one each in Chiang Mai, Tak and Sukhothai.
There were 21,858 new cases in the general population, 221 among prison inmates and 118 imported cases.
Of the local Covid-19 infections, 21,610 were confirmed at hospitals and 248 via mass testing.
Bangkok had the most new cases at 3,018, followed by 1,134 in Chon Buri, 986 in Samut Prakan, 688 in Phuket, 682 in Nonthaburi, 678 in Samut Sakhon, 632 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 609 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 591 in Ratchaburi and 503 in Buri Ram.
The figures did not include 17,514 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours.
The 118 imported cases were from 36 countries and included 18 from Russia, 12 from Germany, 11 from Cambodia and seven each from Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
On Tuesday 218,784 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (up from 215,725 the previous day), including 1,094 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 990) and 310 dependent on ventilators (up from 284).
The 24-hour period also saw 19,093 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,934,544 Covid-19 cases, including 711,109 cases this year, with 2,692,739 complete recoveries to date.
The death toll stood at 23,021 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 1,323 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 1.34 million in 24 hours to 438.81 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 6,813 to 5.98 million.
The United States had the most cases at 80.69 million, up 41,899.
