Subaru is celebrating two milestones for 2027. It has been 25 years since the company debuted the WRX in the United States, and a whole 15 years since the BRZ arrived. With that, the automaker is honoring the two cars with a pair of limited-production models.
The cars are the WRX GD25 and the BRZ ZC15, pairing their original chassis codes with their anniversary year. The pair features unique visual upgrades and added performance accessories. William Stokes, Subaru’s car line planning manager, said:
'The WRX GD25 is a tribute to our rally-ready sedan and its sports car pedigree, including the wing it shares with the ARA Championship-winning ARA25L. Similarly, BRZ ZC15 embodies the best of our long-running, accessible performance sports car, right down to its rear-wheel-drive engagement.'
A Quarter-Century Of WRX
The 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 comes exclusively in World Rally Blue, paired with gold-painted 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007 high-performance tires. Hiding behind them are improved Brembo brakes with gold calipers.
The WRX also features the same wing as Travis Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L rally car, a Subaru Tecnica International carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing. Subaru also tunes the suspension, with stiffer springs and revised damping.
Under the hood, Subaru adds a flexible strut tower brace. The 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine makes the same 271 horsepower as before. It is only available with the six-speed manual transmission, which has an STI short shifter.
Inside, the GD25 Recaro seats feature black Ultrasuede inserts and red accent stitching. The Subaru WRX first went on sale in the United States in 2002.
Busy BRZ
The BRZ ZC15 comes painted in Ceramic White, an exclusive color to the first-generation BRZ. It has matte bronze wheels, paying homage to the color scheme offered on the 2020 BRZ tS. The coupe also has red brake calipers and bronze decals.
The ZC25 also features a black decklid spoiler. Under the hood is a flexible V-bar that adds rigidity. The BRZ continues to pack the 228-horsepower 2.4-liter boxer engine and is only available with the six-speed manual.
Subaru says it will limit BRZ production to just 300 units, while it will produce 350 WRX models. The BRZ will arrive in early 2027, while the WRX will launch next summer. Subaru will release pricing close to their one-sale dates.
