It’s been less than a year since the Cayenne Electric made its official debut, and Porsche is already giving the no-engine luxury SUV a substantial expansion of the options list for the new model year. Stuttgart is focusing on making it more customizable and convenient, with features ranging from electrically operated doors to wireless charging.
Much like the new BMW X5 and its electric iX5 sibling, the headline addition for the 2027 Cayenne is optional electrically operated doors. Servo motors open and close all four doors after a brief pull on the handle. Owners can also operate them using buttons inside the cabin, the infotainment system, or the digital key. The driver's door can even close automatically when the seat belt is fastened, or the brake pedal is pressed.
Porsche says the system works on inclines and continuously monitors the area around the doors. If it detects an obstacle or a person, the automatic movement stops. The doors can still be operated manually, so there's no need to worry about a Final Destination scenario of being stuck if the motors fail.
Say Goodbye To Charging Cables (In Europe)
Another major addition is wireless charging, but with a catch. For now, it’s available to order at home in Germany and other European markets before it expands worldwide, though not in China. We’re asking Porsche whether the feature is coming to the United States. In the meantime, the function does exactly what it says on the tin, juicing up the battery pack without a cable.
Owners park over a permanently installed ground pad, after which charging starts automatically. The system transfers electricity at up to 11 kW with approximately 90 percent efficiency. Porsche says the weatherproof ground pad can be installed outside, and motion sensors and foreign-object detection stop charging if a person, animal, or metallic object gets too close.
Massage Seats Get A Soundtrack
Porsche is also taking the Cayenne's massage function up a notch. A new massage function with 4D audio uses 16 air cushions and six sound actuators in each front seat. It offers five massage programs with adjustable vibration intensity, and the 4D audio system can also be used independently.
105 Exterior Colors Are Now Available
Beyond the standard 13 colors, 92 fresh paint-to-sample (PTS) exterior finishes are now available, so there's an ideal shade for just about anyone. Inside, miscellaneous tweaks include more leather trim and decorative stitching, depending on the packages you choose. All these changes are available for both the Cayenne Electric and its coupe-ish sibling.
Pricing remains unchanged for the new model year, starting at $111,350 for the base model and climbing to $170,350 for the Cayenne Turbo Electric Coupe. Of course, that's before options. Those prices include handling and destination fees. Porsche is already taking orders in the U.S., with deliveries scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

Motor1's Take: Porsche is clearly leaning into the luxury side of the Cayenne Electric with this model-year update. Although painfully slow, wireless charging makes sense for a high-end EV. At the same time, electrically operated doors and increasingly elaborate massage seats push the SUV further toward the ultra-luxurious experience normally associated with these high-end vehicles.
Having 105 colors is an almost comical amount of choice, but that's precisely the point. Porsche knows that buyers at this end of the market aren't just paying for an electric SUV; they're paying for the ability to make it their own. With the Cayenne Electric, Porsche is making sure there are fewer and fewer excuses for ending up with the same configuration as your wealthy neighbor.
