The Chargers had a formal meeting with one of the top tight ends in this year’s draft class.
Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders mentioned Los Angeles as one of the teams he met with at his media availability on Thursday.
In 2023, Sanders set multiple Texas records for his position, including the most 100-yard games by a tight end (3), career receptions (99), and single-season receiving yards (682).
Sanders is a prolific pass catcher who can win all over the field with his great speed and ball, but he does not offer much as a blocker.
With Gerald Everett set to be a free agent and knowing how valuable the position is in Greg Roman’s offense, it’s no surprise that the Chargers are doing their homework on Sanders.
Sanders projects as an early Day 2 selection.
