Football writer and former college quarterback Joel Klatt is one of the better NFL draft analysts out there and he has his first mock draft out for 2024. Klatt is good for a few surprise picks here and there and here are our three takeaways from the mock.
5 quarterbacks in the first round
Most NFL draft pundits are comfortable with putting four quarterbacks in the first round but Klatt went a step further by including Michael Penix Jr. to the Miami Dolphins of all teams. We expect a lot of movement at the bottom of the first round with teams going up for guys like Penix and Bo Nix but it’s tough to project those drafts so far out.
Who got Justin Fields?
Klatt has the Chicago Bears taking Caleb Williams and I look down at the rest of the draft and wonder where Justin Fields ended up. It’s hard to put Williams to the Bears and not project some sort of trade that lands the Bears an extra first-round pick.
Brock Bowers to the Chargers is the MVP pick
In our latest mock draft, we have the Chargers taking Brock Bowers in the first round and we’re glad to see Klatt is on that bandwagon as well. There’s no way they can pass up on a weapon like Bowers for Justin Herbert.
