The Arizona Cardinals are expected to be a bad team in 2023. They have the lowest projected win total in the NFL. The Houston Texans, projected to be the second-worst team in the NFL, traded their 2024 first-round pick to Arizona.
That means the Cardinals could have the top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft.
In a 2024 mock draft by Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, the Cardinals have the first two picks and change the direction of the organization.
Farrar projects the Cardinals selected USC quarterback Caleb Williams first overall and then Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. second overall.
Drafting Williams would mean moving on from Kyler Murray, which could mean more picks if he were to be traded.
Murray is currently making his way back from a torn ACL and will likely miss at least the beginning of the season.
The hope is he will return and will play the way he did before some struggles in 2022. If he doesn’t, it will mean an awful season and would give the Cardinals a chance to move on.
What is perhaps the best scenario for the Cardinals is that Murray comes back, plays well, but it isn’t enough to mean wins.
If they end up with the top two picks and Murray returns to form, they can trade one of the picks to acquire more, and then still land Harrison, who is expected to be a superstar.
