The 2024 Latin Grammy Awards are set to take place in Miami, marking the show's 25th anniversary amidst the global surge in popularity of Latin music genres. Édgar Barrera, a prominent producer and songwriter recognized for his collaborations with renowned artists like Madonna, Karol G, and Shakira, leads this year's nominations with an impressive nine nods. Last year, Barrera secured 13 nominations and clinched three wins.
Barrera is in the running for various categories including producer, songwriter, record, and album of the year. Notably, he has multiple nominations in the best Regional Mexican song and song of the year categories for his contributions to tracks like “Entre Paréntesis” by Shakira and Grupo Frontera, “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” by Karol G, and “Según Quién” by Maluma and Carin León.
Following closely behind Barrera are his collaborators Karol G and Bad Bunny, both boasting eight nominations each. Colombian songwriter Keityn has also garnered six nods for his work.
The Latin Grammy Awards ceremony will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The star-studded lineup of performers includes Barrera, Residente, Myke Towers, DJ Khaled, and a host of other top-tier artists from the Latin music scene.
Carlos Vives, the recipient of the 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award, will grace the stage with a performance. Past honorees of this prestigious accolade include Juanes, Laura Pausini, and Marco Antonio Solís.
This year's event introduces two new categories: best Latin electronic music performance and best contemporary Mexican music album, reflecting the evolving landscape of Latin music. The 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards telecast, spanning three hours, will be broadcast live on Univision, UniMás, Galavisión, and ViX.
