The NBA released its latest update on fan All-Star voting, and both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren remain in the same spots as the first round.
Gilgeous-Alexander (1,763,671 votes) ranks No. 3 among West guards, trailing Luka Doncic (2,508,618 votes) and Stephen Curry (2,126,037 votes).
Meanwhile, Holmgren stays at No. 9 among West frontcourt players with 329,154 votes. The full voting results can be viewed below:
It’ll be a race for an All-Star starter spot, but Gilgeous-Alexander should easily make his second All-Star appearance this season. The 25-year-old has played like an MVP candidate.
In 35 games, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 31.4 points on 55.2% shooting, 6.4 assists and 5.9 rebounds. He has led OKC to a 25-11 start to its season and second-place in the Western Conference standings.
It’ll be much more difficult for Holmgren to make the All-Star roster. Seldom does a rookie get All-Star honors in his first season. The good news for Holmgren is he should be one of the first players outside of the bubble, which means he could be an injury replacement.
After missing last season recovering from foot surgeries, Holmgren has made an immediate impact on the Thunder as part of their impressive trio.
In 36 games, Holmgren is averaging 17.9 points on 55.5% shooting, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 blocks. He’s shooting 40.3% from 3 on 4.3 attempts.
The 2024 NBA All-Star event is scheduled from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18 in Indiana. Even if Holmgren isn’t named an All-Star, he should join Jalen Williams for the Rising Stars challenge.
