While the Indianapolis Colts will be thoroughly conducting their head coach search, they also will be keeping a close on the prospects participating in the Senior Bowl down in Mobile this week.
Throughout the tenure of general manager Chris Ballard, they’ve used the Senior Bowl to find a number of prospects currently on the roster, including the likes of Shaquille Leonard, Alec Pierce, Tyquan Lewis and Bernhard Raimann.
Here’s a quick look at the standouts, news and notes from Day 1 of practices Tuesday:
Tyjae Spears clocking in at 204 pounds today was one of the biggest day 1 winners at the Senior Bowl

Also did a nice job returning punts today. pic.twitter.com/6BaAZvAFpT

Tank Dell had a lot of moments today, and was the most explosive WR from day 1. Here’s an example of that change of speed.@seniorbowl @The33rdTeamFB pic.twitter.com/mq6N03UK1X

#Houston QB Clayton Tune…
Had the best day of the QBs here at the Senior Bowl.
In command of the offense. Made smart decisions with the ball. Most accurate thrower on the field. 6-foot-2, 216.

Miami cornerback Tyrique Stevenson is very impressive. Quick feet with awesome balance and body control. Easy mover with loose hips. Watching him in drills is pretty.

It was an up-and-down first practice for all 5 QBs (to be expected). But they each had a few bright spots too.

.@OhioStateFB OT Dawand Jones vs Andre Carter in run defense/run block drill. Easy win for the massive 6-8, 350 lbs OT#Steelers HC Mike Tomlin was front and center for it with some praise for Jones after the rep pic.twitter.com/AogvuQzVf6

Very rough Day 1 of practice for several Senior Bowl OL.
BYU's Blake Freeland really struggled with his timing. Michigan's Olu Oluwatimi was often overmatched vs. both quickness and power. Important to see progress from both throughout the week.

Tyson Bagent has been throwing some real nice balls today. He seems like the best QB out here #SeniorBowl

I thought Riley Moss had a great first practice today. Speed, balanced transitions, restricted catch windows. https://t.co/yMVTX8IVgA

Just as “Jump Around” blasts through the speakers, #Wisconsin DT Keeanu Benton claims another victim, ripping through Oluwatimi.
Entered the week as one of the best defensive prospects here and he hasn’t disappointed.

Clemson’s KJ Henry active early on. Giving OL some work

I hope the draft narrative around Maryland’s Jaelyn Duncan stays “cold.” First-round OT traits that the #DaBears could snag in Round 2. Good start for him in Mobile. #NFLDraft @seniorbowl

It’s just comical how #OhioState OT Dawand Jones makes other OL look small.
Almost 90-inch wingspan is one of the freakiest numbers in this year’s draft class.

…Dawand Jones uses the snatch/dump move often. Keep excellent separation between himself and the rusher often with that length. He struggles with leverage, but he can SMOTHER you from above and put you on your face pic.twitter.com/S1KLwISLUO

#Iowa CB Riley Moss…
We saw the technique in coverage today at the Senior Bowl. Square shoulders, footwork. Can flip the hips & go. Matched speed down the field. Ball production. 6-foot, 192.

Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh — who left Senior Bowl practice after getting twisted up trying to grab a loose ball — just had a bad cramp in his calf. He won’t return today, but good news on one of the draft’s top running backs.

Tennessee iOL Jerome Carvin has extensive experience across all three spots but put together strong reps at center during @ShrineBowl practice.

Dawand Jones/OT/@OhioStateFB looks spectacular at RT. Shutting down speed rushers like Thomas Incoom and Isaiah Foskey. And I mean handling them like a LT
