We’re one round into the 150th Open Championship, and after 18 holes, we have an expectedly crowded leaderboard.
Cameron Young sits alone in first place at 8-under par, though his odds to hold the lead until the tournament’s end are longer than you’d expect (+750 odds at Tipico Sportsbook). The odds-on favorite, Rory Mcllroy (+320), is just two strokes behind Young and holds sole possession of second place. Cameron Smith (+650) and Robert Dinwiddie (+20000) share third at 5-under par.
From there, things get hectic. An eight-way share of fifth place ensues, and then 14 players are in a battle at 3-under for spot No. 13 in the standings.
Noticeably missing are former Open Championship winners Tiger Woods (+6) and Jordan Spieth (-1). But there are still three days of golf left to figure it out (maybe not in Tiger’s case). The question is, will they?
For now, play it safe and bet on what’s going on atop the leaderboards.
