A difference maker when he’s on the field.
Boise State running back George Holani wasn’t always at 100% last year, but his play still landed him a spot on our annual countdown of the Mountain West Conference’s top athletes for the third straight year.
Though injuries limited Holani to just nine games and seven starts in 2021, it was clear his contributions were as crucial as ever when he saw the field. He led the Broncos with 569 rushing yards and scored one touchdown on 119 carries, and he also added 14 catches for 169 yards to average 5.5 yards per play from scrimmage in total.
Chances are, because the Broncos are flush with talent as always, that Holani will have a little more help in the backfield than he received in years past, but it’s also clear his status as a very effective Plan A is still intact for a Boise State team with plenty of motivation to bounce back in 2022.
